✏️ Group C Phase 3 — Investigation 🎨 Create & Express ⏱ 15 minutes

Task 6 — The Creator

Create an original artistic response inspired by a masterpiece. Not a copy. Not a technical exercise. Your voice, responding to another voice. Choose your format — then create.

Step 1 — Your creative mission
📖
Group C — The Creator
Read this before unlocking the creative tools
Welcome, Creator! So far you have investigated art history and analysed works like a critic. Now it is your turn.

You will create an original artistic response — a personal dialogue with a masterpiece that inspires you. It is not a copy. It is not a technical exercise. It is your voice, responding to another voice across time.

You may choose to respond through:
🎨 Visual — sketch, digital drawing, abstract shape or colour composition
✍️ Written — poem, poetic prose, stream of consciousness, interior monologue
🎙 Audio — recorded narration, improvised sound, spoken thoughts about the work

Use AI for approach suggestions — but the final creation is entirely yours.
Important: AI can suggest approaches and starting points. But AI cannot create your response for you. The work must come from your eyes, your feelings, your interpretation of the masterpiece.
Step 2 — Choose your inspiring masterpiece
🖼️ Which masterpiece speaks to you?
Select one — this is the work you will respond to creatively

🤖 Wonder Learning AI — Inspiration Suggestions
Use AI for creative starting points — but the creation must be yours
Pre-loaded prompt
"I want to create an artistic response to [selected masterpiece]. Give me 4 creative starting points — one for each format (visual, written, audio, any). Each should suggest a specific emotion or question to explore, not a technical instruction."
Here are 4 creative starting points for your response:
🌱 These are starting points, not instructions. You can use them, combine them, or ignore them completely. The best creative responses surprise even the creator.
Step 4 — Choose your creative format

What happens in Task 6

Group C investigates through creation. After reading the intro and marking as understood, students choose one of 6 masterpieces to respond to, optionally generate AI creative suggestions (format-specific starting points), choose their creation format (Visual / Written / Audio), use the corresponding creation tool, then complete a mandatory Creative Intention field (250 chars). On saving the intention, a gallery output card animates in showing the creation, intention, format badge, and masterpiece reference.

🎨 Three creative formats

🎨 Visual: HTML5 canvas with 8 colours, 4 brush sizes, eraser, and clear. Students draw a response to the masterpiece.
✍️ Written: Text editor with poem/prose/monologue format buttons and sentence starter insert. 400-char limit.
🎙 Audio: Simulated 90-second audio recorder with visual timer and bar. Students record a spoken response.

🤖 AI Inspiration role

AI provides 4 format-specific creative starting points — not instructions, but emotional or conceptual prompts. Each suggestion is tappable (marks it as "used" and pre-fills a starter in the creation tool). The AI note explicitly states: "These are starting points, not instructions. The best creative responses surprise even the creator."

♿ SEN Adaptations
  • Drawing tool has guideline options (grid, circles) as drawing supports
  • Image collage available as alternative to freehand drawing — select and arrange pre-loaded images
  • Written tool reads starter sentences aloud when inserted
  • Voice input on intention field — student records, platform converts to text
  • No minimum creation requirement — engagement with the process is assessed, not volume or technical skill
  • Simplified AI mode: 2 suggestions instead of 4, in plain language
  • Audio format: 30-second minimum instead of 90-second maximum
🖨️ No-Tech Format
  • Group receives a printed reproduction (A3) of their chosen masterpiece
  • Materials: coloured pencils, watercolours, scrap paper, magazine cutouts for collage
  • Written response on printed card with the sentence starter "For me, this work says…"
  • Audio: verbal presentation — student speaks their response directly to the class
  • Intention written on the reverse of the creation with the sentence starter "I wanted to express…"
🔬 Extension
  • Create responses in two different formats and compare: "Does my response change when I change the format?"
  • Write a short artist statement (100 words) that would appear on a gallery wall beside your creation
  • Challenge: respond to a work from a culture different from your own — what do you understand? What do you not?
