Lesson overview
In this lesson you explore why humans have always made art — as expression, communication, and record of their time. You begin with a silent 45-second video and a class poll. Then you encounter art history through slides and a close-looking activity with a masterpiece. In the investigation phase, each specialist group goes deeper before the whole class synthesises and creates together.

Group A — The Art Historian: Research an artistic movement's historical context, key works and real-world legacy. Verify findings with AI and a real museum source.
Group B — The Art Critic: Analyse a selected artwork using the DEAR framework (Describe, Examine, Analyse, Respond). Write a critique sentence and present it.
Group C — The Creator: Create an original artistic response to a masterpiece of your choice — in visual, written or audio format — with a creative intention statement.
